Shaun Browne, Chairman & Managing Director
Shaun Browne has led AME Group for 25 years. He coordinates and drives AME’s group strategy and global business operations. Shaun has pioneered, developed and run large-scale research platforms for the resources and basic industries sectors. He has authored expert and advisory reports across many commodities and advised on numerous transactions.
Kate McCutcheon, Head of Research Operations

Kate is the manager of precious metals at AME. She has broad experience in precious, base and industrial metals and has been based in Australia, Laos, Colombia and Chile. She has over 8 years’ onsite operational experience in mine design, optimisation and project evaluation. Prior to AME, Kate worked on feasibility studies with a consultancy in Santiago, spent four years as a senior geotechnical engineer with MMG and over three years with Xstrata Copper as a mining engineer. Kate is a Chartered Professional with the AusIMM and is based in Sydney.
Leonard Rowe, Sales Director

Leonard Rowe heads AME’s business development division providing detailed technical support to AME’s broad client base in Australia and Asia. Leonard is a mining engineer with experience at BHP and Rio Tinto across the copper, iron ore and coal operations in Australia. He has vast knowledge of Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS), drill and blast, mine design, scheduling, grade control and managing open pit operations. Prior to joining AME, Leonard was also involved in mine to port supply chain optimization for Yandi iron ore fines, with a focus on iron ore blending requirements.
Lloyd Hain, Advisory Director

Lloyd Hain heads AME’s advisory division, which provides commissioned reports and studies related to infrastructure, transactions and financing in the resources industry, as well as strategic and project advice. AME’s detailed engineering knowledge and projects experience also forms a credible base for scoping studies. Lloyd is a mining engineer with over a decade of experience in the coal industry having worked in technical, operational and management roles. He has experience in the planning and operation of all types of coal deposits from simple, single seam to highly complex, faulted, steeply dipping, multi-seam deposits.
Tom Haanen, Industry Manager
Bsc (Geology), BCom (Economics)
Tom Haanen is an experienced geologist in the commodities sector. He has had numerous roles focused on assessing the geology and economics of both exploration and mining projects in New Zealand & Australia, with a focus on coal and precious metals. Prior to joining AME, he worked as an exploration geologist for FMG in Western Australia whilst completing his CFA Level 1 exam. His previous experience across a range of commodities from both a public and private sector background has helped to increase the knowledge base of the AME team.
Dane Inglis, Senior Consultant
BEng (Petroleum Engineering)
Dane Inglis is a qualified petroleum engineer, having gained his degree from the University of New South Wales. He has been an integral member of the AME analyst team for several years, and has previous experience across the full crude oil value chain, specialising in computational solving for LNG and refinery yields. Dane is currently working to complete his CFA Level 1 exam.
Yolanda Cao, Senior Accountant
MAcc and MCom
Yolanda is a finance professional with more than 10 years’ experience in commercial services and financial advisory. Previously, she held a CFO position at a retail business with operations in Australia and Asia. Yolanda holds a Master of Accounting and a Master of Commerce in Finance from the University of Sydney.
Michael Donnelly, Senior Consultant
Michael Donnelly’s experience in mining includes 10 years as an exploration geologist with Rio Tinto, and he has subsequently covered a broad range of mineral commodities, principally copper, gold, uranium and diamonds. AME’s work on the global copper and gold industries combines forecasts for demand, supply and prices with a globally comprehensive industry database of costs and production data, built up from mine by mine analysis.

Daniel Levy, Director

Daniel Levy is a Petroleum Geologist with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, across both upstream and operational roles. Prior to joining AME, Daniel worked as an operations geologist, planning and executing drilling programs across the Surat, Bowen, Bangemall, Galilee and Beetaloo basins of Australia. Daniel has an in-depth knowledge of the petroleum operating environment, having targeted shale, CSG, TGS and conventional resource plays. In additional to operational roles, Daniel has been actively involved in the preparation and marketing of several upstream assets, as well as multiple joint venture operations with ASX200 companies.
Robert M Ekstein, Senior Consultant

Robert M Ekstein is a geologist with business development, marketing and consulting services experience. Before joining AME, Robert had experience as a gas geologist for Arrow Energy where he was involved in well-side geology, sub-surface modelling and applied his skills in stratigraphic correlations to daily operations. Robert was part of a group that spearheaded live well monitoring for deviated development and appraisal wells with the aim of providing live situational analysis.
Sina Alidoust, Industry Manager
B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Petroleum Engineering)
Sina is a petroleum engineer with an extensive operational background, gained through working on the offshore fields in the Persian Gulf. Prior to joining AME Research, Sina was involved with Petroservices GmbH, conducting feasibility studies on NIOC’s flagship South Pars project. He has great familiarity with fundamentals of exploration, development and production forecasting of high pressure and high fractured reservoirs. His engineering knowledge and his analytical skills are progressively utilized by AME Research to develop accurate asset evaluation studies.
Bardia Alavi, Industry Manager
BEng (Petroleum Engineering) (Hons)
Bardia Alavi is a Petroleum Engineer/Energy Market Analyst with years of experience across various techno-economic sectors of the global oil and gas industry. Prior to joining AME, Bardia served as a private consultant for the WA Government, looking at risk factors and as an asset engineer, for Eureka Energy developing the company’s portfolio of assets. He possesses a strong foundation in upstream petroleum engineering, reservoir geomechanics, production optimization, pipeline engineering, asset monetization, financial modelling, and cost engineering.
Tony Hespe, Industry Director
BSc (Geology and Geophysics), Master of Business and Technology, MAIG
Anthony Hespe has 40 years of experience in mineral exploration, mine geology, resource definition and project development, which includes the leadership of teams exploring for base metals, gold and bulk commodities in Australia and China. He has extensive experience in identifying and acquiring projects and negotiation and management of joint ventures. Tony was Managing Director of Zenith Minerals, an ASX-listed mining company, identifying an iron ore project and developing it from resource definition through to scoping study.
Sien Wei Phua, Industry Manager

Sien Wei is the industry manager of iron ore at AME. His focus includes iron ore, freight and product development. Over his career in AME, Sien Wei has been responsible for the global iron ore and freight research and market analysis, as well as the development of global trade flow model. Sien Wei has also had significant involvement in AME’s iron ore advisory transactions, including IPOs, internal market reports, M&A, due diligence and financing.
Dean Kennington, Industry Manager
BEng (Process Metallurgy, Hons)
Dean Kennington is a senior process engineer with over 10 years of steelmaking experience. He has worked in operational and technical roles across BOF, EAF, Steel Treatment, Continuous Casting, and Pipe and Tube Mills. He worked for two years at OneSteel’s Sydney Steel Mill as an Operations Engineer and Shift Leader gaining experience in all operations of an EAF Meltshop. Dean spent six years working in Port Kembla at BlueScope Steel’s BOF and Steel Treatment departments. Dean is currently contributing his detailed process knowledge to AME’s global steel model.
Andrew Denton, Industry Manager

Andrew is a process engineer with eight years practical experience within alumina refining operations. He has experience in data analysis, process modelling and improvement and has contributed to on-site process impact assessments and feasibility studies. Prior to joining AME Andrew held several site based technical positions in process development, projects and refinery operations in Queensland, Australia. His experience spans the alumina production chain, covering digestion, precipitation, settling and materials handling.
